Topic:

What Research Reveals About Why We Vote

How do people go about deciding whether or not to vote?  Come hear a brief talk about some of the scholarship on this decision-making process and its implications on our electoral discourse and our political representation.  Then discuss the research, your own motivations for choosing whether or not to vote and how that relates with recent studies.  You may be surprised by what the science says about how your motivation relates to your political preferences.

Organizer

Science Pub RVA

Science Pub RVA connects curious citizens and creative scientists over a sip of some sort at  informal gatherings in non-academic settings.

What to expect  A short presentation by a local scientist followed by a dialogue among the attendees and with a local scientist.

What to bring  All you need bring is smidge of interest - no background in science is needed. Sipping on a glass of water at these free, open-to-the-public events is completely copacetic.  Should you want to quench your thirst another way, or chew on something other than an interesting topic, you'll need some moola.

Help us keep the conversation going  Science Pub RVA is an independent, citizen endeavor seeking sponsors and donors to promote dialogue between the public and local scientists.
